The 2023 Toyota Tacoma has 6 different trim levels which are manufactured. Of these trims, there are only two engine choices, two cab sizes, and two bed lengths.

All other Tacoma trucks utilize the V6 engine, 3.5 L with 278 hp @ 6,000 and 265 lb.-ft. @ 4,600.
This engine is also available in manual for a select few trims.
The TRD Sport with an Access or Double cab can be offered in manual as well as the TRD Off-Road with a double cab.
Cab Sizes
The Toyota Tacoma has two cab sizes: the Access Cab and the Double Cab.
Unlike many other trucks in the same family, there is no regular cab. Both of these cabs have two rows. The Access cab can hold up to 4 people and the Double cab can hold 5.
The main difference between these two trucks is the comfort and access to the back row seat.
The Double cab has two full size doors so that the back seat passengers can get in and out normally.
The access cab does not have an independent back door and in order to get in the back seat, the front door has to be opened first.

1k payload is about worthless. Hilux is twice that yet a smaller truck. I know many in the 7-8k range with Tacomas so I’d be curious if it is just the lame soft springs they use for the American market that destroy the payload since the frames, axles, bearings and brakes seem to be up to task otherwise.
Sounds like your confusing towing cap with cargo cap. No midsized or even full size truck anywhere in the world is rated 7-8k like you seem to think.
Tacoma can to upwards of 7k while having a measly 1100lb cargo cap. They aren’t the same thing
If you’re towing even 6,000 pounds you need a tongue weight of at least 700 pounds (tongue weight needs to be between 10 and 15 percent of trailer weight) to avoid sway. Add another 250 pounds for gas and a hitch and you are at a payload of almost 1000 before you even get in. If you have a topper or other accessories they must be counted too. Plus anything you stow in the box. So you it’s impossible to safely tow anything substantial with a payload of 1,200 pounds.
