The Ford F150 is the most popular consumer pickup truck on the market. It has 8 different trim levels.

The height of a Ford F150 (2021 model) ranges from 75.2 – 79.8 inches. This means that these trucks are between 6′ 3.2 – 7.8″ to the top of the cabin in stock form.

The shortest F150 truck is the Regular Cab (4×2 drive) and the tallest is the SuperCrew on the 4×4 Raptor Trim.

Depending on the trim, bed size, cabin size, drive, and suspension, the exterior dimensions of your Ford F150 can change.

This guide will walk you through the external dimensions of your Ford F150 (2021) based on various specs of the truck taken directly from Ford.com.

Width of Ford F150

The total width of the Ford F150 including the mirrors is 95.7 inches wide (96.0 in. in the Raptor).

Without mirrors, it has a width of 79.9 in and 86.6 for the Raptor. And with the mirrors folded, the Ford F150 is 83.6 inches (86.6 in. for Raptor).

I believe the Raptor is the same because there might be a part of the truck that sticks out beyond the folded mirror.

Length of Ford F150

The Ford F150 ranges from 209.1 in ( 17 ft 5.1 in.) to 243.5 in (20 ft 3.5 in.) in length.

The shortest truck is the regular cab with a 6.5 ft truck bed and the longest truck is the SuperCrew with a 6.5 ft bed.

Why are some Ford F150s longer than others?

The size of trucks is determined by many things. The main factors are the bed size and the cab size. These significantly can change the dimensions of a truck.

The main factors that contribute to longer Ford F150’s are the bed size and cab size.

Bed Size and Style

The Ford F150 trucks come in three different bed sizes. These are the short, standard, and long beds.

The short bed is 5.5 ft, the standard is 6.5 ft and the long bed is 8.0 ft long.

The Tremor and Raptor are only available in the short bed, whereas all other trims have options in all three lengths.

The caveat here is that not every bed size can be combined with every cab size. A truck can only be so long. The largest cab cannot be combined with the long bed but is offered in the short ft bed.

Though this doesn’t impact the length of the truck as much, all Ford F150’s have what is called a fleetside truck bed.

A fleetside truck bed is one in which the wheel wells are flush with the sides of the truck bed.

Some trucks have a stepside truck bed. This is one where the wheels actually stick out from the sides of the bed. These types of bed styles allow for a perfectly square truck bed.

The fleetside beds have wheelhouse bumps in the bed which decreases the total volumetric area inside the bed.

Ford is known to use different terms for these kinds of trucks. For fleetside, they use the term “styleside” and for stepside, they use “flareside.”

Cab Size

Ford has three main cab sizes. Regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew. These are smallest and largest in this order. Read on to the next section to learn more about the three different cab sizes in the family.

Ford F150 Cab Size

Regular Cab

The regular cab of the Ford F150 series can hold up to three people. It is a signal row cab with a middle seat installed.

It has two full-size doors, one on the driver’s side and one on the passenger’s side.

The regular cab has the shortest cab size of the three orientations and measures 121.4 inches from the front bumper to the back of the cab (where the bed starts).

SuperCab

The SuperCab can hold up to 6 people. It is composed of two rows of seating of 3.

This cab style does have 4 doors, however, they are not full doors. The back doors swing open towards the back which may or may not have their own handles, however small they may be.

This is the cab option for those looking to carry both lots of passengers and cargo. This size still allows the long bed type, but can also carry 6 people.

The cab measures 144.0 in from the front bumper to the back of the cab.

superCrew

The SuperCrew is a trademarked brand of Ford for their 4 full door, two row cab. In terms of capacity, it can only carry up to 6 people like the SuperCab, but there is much more space for passengers.

The biggest difference between this and the SuperCab is the 4 fully functional, full-sized doors in the front and the back rows.

Because it is the largest cab size at 155.8 inches, it is not available with the long bed, but can be manufactured in the 5.5 ft bed size.

See the image below for an example of this cab style.

This car is best fit for those who plan to transport more than 3 passengers frequently, such as a family and want the look and functionality of a pickup truck.

This type of pickup truck provides additional leg space for the back seat passengers. It has 10 extra inches compared to SuperCab. The legroom in the front and back is nearly identical making it a great truck for backseat passengers.

Will a Ford F150 fit in a standard garage?

Standard single-car garages are 8-9 ft wide and 7-8 ft high and 22 ft deep (Home Depot & Danley’s).

This means that Ford F150 trucks can fit in standard garages. The longest Ford F150, however, would just barely fit into a 22 ft deep garage. At nearly 21 ft this only leaves one foot of room.

If you have a longer Ford F150, you may want to consider expanding your garage or keeping your truck outside.

In terms of width and height, without any modifications, Ford F150’s should have not issue making it into a garage.

All Ford F150 trucks are below 86.6 in (7′ 2.6″) with the side mirrors folded and even at 8 ft wide, a truck should have enough room to squeeze in.

Conclusion

Though this information covers a lot of the necessary dimensions to know about your truck, these only show the stock values. If you have made any other changes to the truck, you should make sure you measure your own truck!

When in doubt measure it out!
