How often should you change your Tundra’s Oil?

Under normal driving conditions, Toyota says to change the oil every 5,000 miles or every 6 months in the 4.0 L, 4.6 L and 5.7 L engine.

This changes if operating on dirt roads, towing, driving in cold weather, or idling for long time periods.

The Flex Fuel Tundra, however, is slightly different. If using E85 fuel more than half of the time, this will increase the need to change the oil every 2,500 miles or 3 months. If not, the oil should be changed every 5,000 miles or 6 months.

See the 2013 Tundra Maintenance Guide and 2013 Tundra FFV Maintenance Guide for more info.

If you do not choose to buy the recommended Toyota oil, you should try to always buy oil that has the API-certified logo on it.

This will ensure that the oil you are putting in your car conforms to the engine, emission system, and fuel economy standards set by the International Lubricants Specification Advisory Council.

And lastly, DO NOT USE SUPPLEMENTAL ENGINE OIL ADDITIVES!
